Privacy Policy

Critical, a movie review app by Greenswings · Effective date: July 22, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Critical (a movie review app operated by Greenswings) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this deliberately short and only describe what the app actually does.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you register we collect your email address, username, and display name. Authentication and account records are handled through Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore).
• Content you create. The reviews, discussions, comments, favorites, playlists, watchlist and watched lists, follows, and profile details (such as your bio and tagline) that you add are stored in Cloud Firestore. Profile and cover images you upload are stored in Firebase Storage.
• Diagnostics. To keep the app stable we collect crash reports through Firebase Crashlytics and performance timing through Firebase Performance Monitoring. Performance data has URL query strings removed before it is sent, so request parameters are not included.
• Movie information. The app fetches film data from The Movie Database (TMDB) to show movie details, posters, and metadata. We do not send your personal information to TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

How we use your information

We use the information above to operate Critical — to create and secure your account, to show your content to you and to other users as part of the social experience, to power reporting and blocking, and to fix crashes and improve performance. We do not use it for any other purpose.

Who processes your information

Critical runs on Google Firebase, which acts as our backend service provider (authentication, database, file storage, crash reporting, and performance monitoring). Movie data comes from TMDB as described above. We do not share your information with other third parties except as needed to run the app or as required by law.

What we do NOT do

• We do not show advertising.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

Deleting your account and data

To delete your account, open the app and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account. After you confirm your password, your account and personal data are deleted immediately. Your reviews and debates are anonymized (shown as “Anonymous”) so that other users' comments and votes on them are preserved, while your personal data — comments, votes, lists, follows, blocks, profile, and photos — is permanently removed. Email support@greenswings.com remains available as a fallback if you are unable to use the in-app option.

Reports other users have filed about you are retained for abuse-prevention and safety auditing even after your account is deleted. Reports you have filed about other users are deleted along with your account. We may also retain limited copies of data where required by law or for backup.

Children

Critical is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We rely on Google Firebase's infrastructure and take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app.
